New School Creation Fellowship
Design and launch an innovative school focused on equity and deeper learning
Reimagine Education for Justice
Committed to co-designing a new school with, and not for, your community? New School Creation Fellows are supported in leadership development, school design, and new school start-up for radically reimagined education grounded in love, justice, and collective liberation. The 16 diverse-by-design, project-based High Tech High schools provide an innovative and disruptive context for rethinking what is possible, and are intended to serve as sources for inspiration, not replication.
Applications for our next cohort will open in January 2023.

There are many different fellowships that exist to support school founders. Here is what sets ours apart:
Focus on Liberatory Design
“NSCF is the only fellowship I have participated in with such a strong orientation towards Liberatory Design of Schools.”
Relationship Building
“I’ve been a part of several fellowships over the past 15 years in education and I’ve never experienced anything that comes close to the power of NSCF. Figuring out how to help school leaders work with boards, manage budgets, build ops plans, etc. is important work, and there are a lot of fellowships with those supports in place. There is absolutely nothing in the country that supports school leaders in creating real, lasting, and impactful change like NSCF. The NSCF expanded our mental model of what was possible in education.”
“With this fellowship I feel like innovation is not just a word! We are encouraged in every aspect of our work and life to combat the status quo, and that is something so powerful and moving that I have not experienced in any other education setting. We are challenged to design new schools and not just revise the methods of old ones.”

Our fellows are passionate visionaries on a quest to ideate, create, innovate, test, and iterate upon their human-centered school models, all in service of building dynamic and transformative deeper learning communities that hold equity at their core.
